Cory Godell, Deschutes River Anglers
The Steelhead season is now firing on all cylinders. We’ve been catching steelhead from the month of the Deschutes all the way up the Warm Springs. This means there isn’t a bad place on the entire Lower 100 miles of the Deschutes to chase steel. The lower river, below Maupin still has a good chunk of the fish. But the upper 40 miles hardly has anyone fishing it yet so your odds of catching some steelhead are as good or better then going down river.
We’re back at it again tomorrow for three more days. I will try and shoot another report on Saturday.
If anyone’s gets a wild hair and needs a steelhead fix we have a week window open right in the middle of October.
