Yosemite Fly Fishing Report
Yosemite Outfitters reports on 8.18.2017
There is a new fire on the South Fork of the Merced which has shut down Wawona, and limited access to the Bridal Veil/ Glacier Point area. There is access to the Park off of 41 but be aware of heavy smoke and fire crew access. Otherwise we are really busting and fishing is great!
Mokelumne- With flows down to a steady 900cfs, the Lower Mokelumne is very floatable for well-designed water craft and experienced rowers.
Upper Moke on Hwy 4 is also fishing well.
Stanislaus- The main forks are good- Streamers and nymphs are best dries in the afternoon.
Lower is at 1400 still a bit high to drift.
Tuolumne - In the Meadow, it is great, dry flies all day. The marshy nature of the meadow is also at a very sensitive state so be careful where you walk.
Below the dam repairs to cherry lake and rafting releases are making the river ridiculously high to fish. The North, Middle, forks are fishing well.
Lower T is at 2,333
Merced- Fishing well, really well - stay out of the gorge.
Cheers,
Rick
