Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Upper Sacramento RiverOct 1, 20151 min read

Bucko Theriot reports on 10.1.2015

It is officially fall and the upper sac fishing continues to be great. This weeks upcoming weather is predicted not to break past the 70s which should carry on the great fishing. The October caddis, which are the T-Rex’s of the caddis world, should be dancing around the river anytime now. This river is known for its prolific October caddis hatch and It is truly amazing to witness these giant caddis flies all around you. It doesn’t get much better than casting big dry flies and enjoying the fall colors. The flies that I have been dishing out have been rubber legs, birdsnest, prince nymphs, Gordon prince, and various small mayfly patterns. Make sure you are loaded with a quick hook set when you visit the upper sac!
