Surf Fly Fishing Report

Local SurfMay 3, 20181 min read

Evan Praskin reports on 5.3.18

This last Saturday we had our Fly Fish the Surf/Bay clinic at Crissy Field and it was a hit! The group of guys and gals we had were eager to learn and picked up our lessons quick. All of our attendees started off the morning getting lines wet with some basic instruction followed by some “surf talk” right there on the sand.

The rest of the day was balanced out with more talks and of course more fishing! The group landed 3 different species on the fly…halibut, striped bass, and a very lost  Greenling. We finished the day with some bbq sausage while chatting about the west coast striper migration.

Putting the feelers out for another clinic coming up Saturday, May 13. Keep that date in mind!

 MONTEREY BAY

The striper fishing continues to fish well with some perch still in play. Stick to those closures and maybe double up with a perch fly for more action. These early morning overcast days seem to get those fish eating. Hope everyone has a great week, we’ll see you on
