Salmonflies and golden stones continue to come off on the upper Rogue River. The unseasonably warm temperatures did slow the bite down and kept the bugs from flying until late evening on most days. Still, plenty of trout continue to rise, making for really fun fishing on a beautiful river. Last night, Rachel and I packed up the kids for an evening float and watched our 7 year-old son really get after ‘em . He knows the hatch only lasts another 2-3 weeks and then it’s another year of waiting before it all happens again. Waiting for anything is tough when you’re 7. Especially so when it comes to the magic of adult salmonflies and golden stones in the air, on the water, in the boat and on the radar of ‘bows and cutthroat. He can’t wait to go again and neither can we.
