John Fochetti reports on 2.2.17

The lake is still closed and the tribe issued a press release today stating that there will be no refunds given for permits. While this may anger some people think about a few things: First, the tribe needs our support and money to get the lake back to a safe place to fish. Second, this is due to weather, something that is out of anyone’s control. If you bought a fishing license in California and a steelhead punch card but all of the rivers were blown out, would you expect to get a refund?
As of right now, the lake is scheduled to be open on April 1. I will be attending the Tribal Council meeting this week along with many of the lake’s other guides. So, I will report back next week with any information I can gather.
