Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

Pyramid LakeMay 26, 20161 min read

Doug Ouellette Reports on 5.26.2016

With the cool wet weather patterns, the fishing at Pyramid Lake has been very good for the last couple of weeks. Several Pilot Peak strain cutthroat have been caught and released including some big fish. Tui chub patterns, both balanced and unbalanced patterns have been producing .  A callibaetis mayfly hatch has been going on throughout the month. Copper, Copper John patterns have been the most productive nymph pattern fished with or without an indicator (Floater no Cator). Big numbers of fish have been caught on Popcorn Beetles, Black/Purple Buggers, and micro Zig Jig flies (available at Crosby’s Lodge).  Some beaches have been very crowded, but other beaches have been producing very well. We have been fishing at deserted non crowded beaches with outstanding results. Again, with the cool weather the fishing should continue to be good.  Here is a pic of a nice female Pilot Peak Cutthroat caught by Tawni Capurro from Sutcliffe , Nv.
