Now that our snow break is finally over, it’s time to get back to business. Dry fly season is starting to ramp up on the Owyhee. But with the nights still a bit cooler than average and the crazy cold snap that hit us hard for several day until a week ago, the skwalla hatch is running bit later than normal. We have seen a few skwallas, but we are by no means in the thick of things yet. Sooner than later the irrigation district will crank up the river level on the Owyhee to get more water to for the farmers. When they do this it tends to slow the bite for a few days, so definitely keep an eye on the water levels.
