The McCloud River has got quite a bit of color the last few days. Luckily, the glacial sediment is settling by the time it gets to the conservancy. We have our fingers crossed that we will not see another blown out river this summer. We’ve seen many of our fish come from the nymph, but if you stay out late enough you’ll see rising fish. PMD’s, Caddis and Yellow Sallies are the only visible bugs and are all worth imitating… but we’ve also seen some big fish smash some pretty ridiculous looking big dries that don’t imitate anything around these parts. Its certainly not a numbers time of year but it is a great chance to get your biggest McCloud fish of the year.
