Lower Sacramento Striper report

Lower Sacramento RiverSep 10, 20151 min read

Hogan Brown Reports on 9.9.2015

Lower Sacramento River Stripers - Striper fishing on the Lower Sac remains fair to good. There are still plenty of shaker and small schoolie fish willing to eat a fly and each day we seem get a few nice 5-8lb fish with the shot at a true trophy. Some days the big ones will follow the fly all the way to the boat and turn off, some days they smash it and we loose them in a snag or pull the hook, and some we land and celebrate. Never know how it is going to go and that is the beauty of the whole game. Salmon are moving through the river in increasing numbers and this last weekend we had two chrome fish smash striper flies right at the boat, role, jump, and throw the hook. Pretty cool surprise. Water temps have dropped a bit on average down to about 61-62 in the morning and getting up to about 67-68 in the afternoon. The warmer weather on the way should get the stripers VERY active and fishing should remain consistent through Ocotober.
