Fishing has been great on the Lower Sac this week. My favorite time to be on the
river right now is around 5-9pm. As soon as that sun gets behind the trees and
the shadows grow out over the water it gets noticeably more comfortable and the
fishing seems to be better. It’s been hot this week but the summer caddis are in
their element. Looking ahead, August can be a fantastic month to float the Lower
Sac. Nights are getting longer and that sunset is coming a little earlier each
week.
Long anticipated Posse Grounds section of the L Sac will re-open August 1st,
which is this Saturday. It will be great to be able to fish the entire river and this
will improve some of our evening float options. Salmon Season will open below
Deschutes Bridge as well. Look for increased jet boat activity on that section of
river from now until fall season.
Open dates for the coming weeks are: August 5, 6, 20, 21, 23, 28, 30, 31
