Fishing was poor to good on the Feather this week. It’s a total crap shoot. One day is good, the next, who knows? Hopefully these storms will bring some new fish in! Oroville has had a substantial amount of rain this season, 13.5 inches to date. Normal up there for this time is 7 inches. Last year at this time we only had 3 inches. You wouldn’t know it by looking at the river though. The river looks the same as it did at the start of the season. Lake Oroville is so empty, it’s going to be awhile before they release more water. This upcoming storm is supposed to bring about 8 inches of rain. If we keep getting those, the lake might fill in fast! let’s hope.
Fish are still taking eggs, but are also taking caddis and BWO patterns. Crowds have surprisingly not thinned out much. On our last trip we encountered fishermen on almost every run.
