The Burkheimer 8134-4 is the sexiest spey rod we sell. An weight 8-weight spey rod for steelhead, is the equivalent of a 6wt for trout. So, if you are looking for a spey rod to throw heavy flies and sink tips for big steelhead this is your stick. 

We recommend a 550-575 grain Skagit shooting head for this rod. Skagit style is your line for winter fishing, heavy flies and fast sinking tips.

If you are fishing more on the surface, you should line this rod up with a Scandinavian style head. We like 480 grain Rio Scandi head.
